Day 14. To be described…
Day 13. No kilometres today! (A welcome rest for our muscles.) Instead we´re up early and on the 33 bus, then 32 bus to collect our pre-ordered tickets for Granada´s famous red fortress, the Alhambra. We walk the grounds and explore the rooms and gardens for the whole morning, including the Arab banos, the Torre […]
Day 12. Up at 7 and away by 8:15. Dip down to the Rio Alhama then a solid climb to around 900m through olive groves. A steep downhill to Cacin (˜650m) followed by a steep climb in the growing heat of the day. We roll through brilliant fields of poppies and wheat and see many […]
A good early start and cool conditions. We had to climb up a 900m pass in very hot, smelly conditions (due to the numerous trucks that zoomed past us on the way up). We have a break in Vinuela after two hours and reach the pass. We ate lunch in the plaza at […]
Up at 8am and wander quiet Malaga streets; most businesses closed. Breakfast is cafe con leche and a bocadillo y jamon. Shopping at El Corte Inglés for camping gas and groceries. Leave Malaga at 1:30pm, around waterfront on pedestrian/cycle path. We stop for bbq sardines, fries and cervesa and continue riding along the flat coastline. […]

On Wednesday we […]
Last night Mhairi cooked us a Jamie Oliver recipe featuring cod, pancetta, green beans and pine nuts. Simple (some would say, ‘naked’) and yummy. Especially when washed down with some Catherine’s Run Sauvignon Blanc from The Crossings that we brought over from NZ. Thanks Mhairi.
Travelling from New Zealand to London is always a drag. Still, we made it ok. It turns out Charlotte’s Mum is staying with her, so our old room wasn’t available. Instead we met up with Matt and, after some pleasant Thai for lunch, headed to his place in Forest Hill. We felt much more human […]
Well ok, just the other side of this ’small blue thing’.

I guess this should be something profound, given that it is my first post on my own ‘blog. I do feel good about setting up the Accident/Incident Database over at http://www.rivers.org.nz/safety/db, but otherwise Lisa and I have been busy preparing to depart for London tomorrow, then Seville on Tuesday to begin our cycle-touring adventure in […]
